My Story
A year ago I was getting fat, 12 stone (168 lbs) to be exact. At 5 foot 6 inches that gave me a body mass index (BMI) of 27.1 (right in the middle of overweight), and I was struggling to bend over and tie my shoe laces. I was 36 years old and getting 'Middle aged spread'. I wasn’t happy.
Once Xmas was out of the way I made up my mind to lose some weight.
I was frustrated that even being active; playing squash, cycling and going to the gym etc, that I couldn't totally shift my gut (in the words of the woman who did my work medical: "the gut is your age dear, nothing you can do about it".
I made some progress going to the gym 3-4 times a week and certainly felt better but hadn’t actually lost much (just under half a stone) and was realising just how much I had let myself go!
But then I found Don Lemmon’s Know-How site on the Internet (http://www.donlemmon.com/) and it made very interesting reading.
Don doesn’t offer any magic cures and states from the outset that the best way to lose weight and get healthy is to eat right and
exercise, something I have always agreed with. Little did I know that my views on eating right were somewhat different to Don’s and maybe,
just maybe that is why I was stuck in a rut!
So I ordered Don Lemmon’s BOOK ONE: Exercise & Nutrition - The TRUTH, if only to decide whether it was full of false promises or not.
Refreshingly the book is anything but what I expected and made a lot of sense throughout. I now no longer subscribe to my old dieting mentality of "burn off more calories than you eat" - under Don’s supervision I am eating more and exercising less!
